There are various situations where you may be required to provide a declaration or affidavit confirming your marital status. This may be necessary if you plan to get married abroad, wish to add your spouse to a pension or benefits program, or need to satisfy the requirements of an employer, insurance provider, or financial institution. In many cases, the requesting organization will provide a standard form. However, if no form is available, you may need to prepare the declaration yourself.
When preparing such a declaration, accuracy and honesty are essential. Just like with any affidavit, the information must be entirely true. Do not include false details simply because you believe it is expected. For example, if you cannot recall the exact date you first met your spouse, it is acceptable to write what you do know—such as “early June 2012.” This is generally sufficient for the reviewing authority.
If you prefer not to edit templates on your own or wish to save time, Central Translation can prepare the declaration on your behalf. Our fee for this service is $99 plus applicable taxes, which includes both drafting the document and completing the declaration before one of our Notaries
